ABOUT ME

Misha Cvijović (Serbia/Germany) is a Berlin-based composer, pianist and sound artist. She developed her musical career in the fields of instrumental and orchestral contemporary music, electroacoustic music, contemporary opera and musical theater, theatre and film music.
Her compositions have been performed at numerous international festivals and concerts, including: Musica Electronica Nova Wroclaw, Frequency Kiel, Heroines of Sound Berlin, KLANG Copenhagen, SONIC MATTER Zurich, MaerzMusik, Unerhörte Musik, Opening of the Month of Contemporary Music Berlin, Klangwerkstatt für Neue Musik Berlin, IMPULSE Graz, Musiktheatertage Wien, Symposium Neues Musiktheater Deutsche Oper Berlin, Frauen im Musiktheater Neuköllner Oper, Darmstäter Ferienkurse, Cannes Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival, etc. Her compositions have been performed by many internationally established soloists, ensembles and orchestras for contemporary music, including: Ensemble LUX:NM, Zafraan Ensemble, Ensemble RADAR, zone expérimentale Basel, RTS Symphony Orchestra, Sebastian Berweck, Sirje Viise. During her career in opera/music theatre/theatre/film, she has worked as a composer, sound artist, arranger, pianist and musical director. She has worked with directors such as Nadja Loschky (Theater Bielefeld), Kirsten Burger (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Peter Kastenmüller (Theater Bielefeld), Jonas Eglof (Deutsche Oper Berlin), Jan Sobrie (Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf), Aliénor Dauchez (Donaueschinger Musiktage), Fabian Gerhardt (Neuköllner Oper, E.T.A. She studied piano at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in the class of Vladimir Ogarkov and composition at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of Vlastimir Trajković as well as at the renowned HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin in the class of Eun-Hwa CHO. She has attended numerous international courses with Georges Aperghis, Marc Andre, Heiner Goebbels, Pierluigi Billone, Stefano Gervasoni, Lucia Ronchetti, Pierluigi Billone, Hannspeter Kyburz, Wolfgang Heiniger, Stefano Gervasoni, Isabel Mundry, Clara Iannotta, Sarah Maria Sun, She She Pop, Forced Entertainment, etc.
Misha was a scholarship holder of the Senate Department for Culture and Europe in Berlin 2021 and the Musikfonds Berlin 2021 with the Trio Splitsignals Berlin. She receives the WERGO CD portrait grant from Edition Zeitgenössische Musik (EZM) 2023, a project of the Podium Gegenwart of the German Music Council, WERGO.
